SRINAGAR, NOV 26 (PTK): Taking a serious note of Labour and Employment Department by issuing a notification seeking the closure of shops and establishments on various days of the week in Srinagar, the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) on Sunday said the government is playing with fire by provoking the trader community of the valley.

“We have already appealed to the government that the weekly off calendar for Srinagar is anti-business diktat that will hamper the business interests of the traders earning livelihood in a place like Kashmir where markets are of often off due to security restrictions or strike calls,” KTFM president Muhammad Yasin Khan said in a statement issued here.

“Not a day passes when markets or shops are not closed duo to turmoil, so in given conditions we cannot keep the markets shuts,” Mr Khan, who is the chairman of Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) said.

Citing an example, Mr Khan said, “People love to visit Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) on Fridays as it houses most of the shrines and Masjids.

Keeping the market closed Friday, is a conspiracy to kill the business activities. (PTK)
