Article 370 Row: Ruckus in Assembly, opposition asks CM to clear stand

Jammu | (PTK):  Following the remarks of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti that attempts to weaken Article 370 of the Constitution , which grants special autonomy to the state, were the biggest “anti-national act”, the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly today was adjourned.
The assembly witnessed ruckus immediately after the commencement when opposition leaders including former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah asks Speaker Kavinder Gupta to clear stand on the issue.
However the speaker informed opposition members that the chief Minister did not mean anything such but some people have interpreted a different meaning. The speaker told he has seen the records as earlier on Tuesday he has assured the house, if any such comment of Mufti would be expunged.
Amid verbal chaos between the members in the house, National Conference members pitched a verbal brawl with Lal Singh, State Forest Minister which led to the disruption in proceedings.
Pertinently on Tuesday Mufti said, “There are some forces within this country who think that by scrapping Article 370, the issue of Kashmir will be resolved and everything will be alright. We need to work together to save the composite culture which Article 370 protects”.
Meanwhile reacting on the stamen of the CM, Senior Congress Leader, Ghulam Ahmad Mir said that the void in the PDP-BJP alliance wastes precious time of the house.
While talking to the PTK, Mir said that we have already made it clear to the people that this coalition government will do nothing other than to deceive people. “From past two years they have been taking up the issues only but had no conclusions. They (PDP-BJP) fail to deliver as they lack uniformity,” he said.
Mir further adds that it is for the first time in the history of house that the statement of the Leader of the House were expunged adding that even her (CM’s) stamen was protested by coalition government itself.
Terming the direction of speaker to expunge the statement as unconstitutional, he says the government is divided which only creates precedence’s in the house.
Asking CM to clear her statement, Mir said, “If she is losing faith of the collation, she will fall under minority”. Adding that, this leaves only two choices for CM, either to apologies or to resign.
On the other hand Senior Leader of National Conference Ali Mohammad Sagar said that PDP is just wasting time. “If Mehbooba has any respect for Article 370 she should ask Speaker not to expunge her remarks regarding it, so that we understand how much serious she is about the Article”, Sagar adds.
